Transcript Of Welcome Episode
Hi everyone and welcome to Personal Development Time’s Pick Me Up Podcast. My name is Emma and I am the founder of Personal development time and your host for the pick me up podcasts.
Personal Development Time is all about inspiring, encouraging and motivating other mums to take some time out for themselves and work on their personal development, whether this be physically, spiritually or mentally. And it is about creating a safe, honest and real environment for them to do this. Having become a mum myself 15 months ago I didn’t find the transition into motherhood the easiest, as in all honesty I felt a little lost. Being somebody who loved all aspects of personal development and it being something that I was extremely passionate about it, I found it really difficult not being able to dedicate the time to it that I had done before, and felt a little uncertain of my identity outside of being a mummy. It was at this point that I realised that other mums must be feeling the same, and this was how Personal development time was born.
I felt compelled to put something together to help other mums but it was really important to me that I did this in a real, honest and down to earth way, as i couldn’t help but feel that what was out there about being a mummy was a lot of “showing the best version” and not always the “real version”, and this certainly doesn’t do any of us any good.
The idea came for the pick me up podcast through my own experiences! I often use the opportunity whilst walking to the dog to listen to podcasts or audiobooks as this is a time that I can fill my mind with positivity and inspiration. But, I always find that they are quite long so I never quite get round to finishing it and it can then be a good 24-48hours until I end up listening again and at that point I have lost my flow with it. I would also love to listen to them when my little boy is sleeping, or when he is taking 5 minutes to play by himself but I am always put off starting one knowing that it is going to be a good hour or so long. And that’s where I thought, as mummy’s, we need something different here! Something that allows us to plug in really easily, anytime, anywhere for a little bit of inspiration, motivation or just a good old… “girl.. I’ve got you! You’re doing awesome!” So…. introducing the pick me up podcast.
You can expect the episodes to be no longer than 15 minutes (maybe with the odd exception when we get into a real meaty topic with a guest), so they really are that perfect pick me up at the times when you most need it.
I hope you love listening to them just as much as I enjoy putting them together for you.
So welcome! I am very much looking forward to riding this rollercoaster with you.
It has been great to connect with you
